Today we had to give notice of marriage and that makes things feel real! In Oxfordshire, the council cannot guarantee/confirm the registrar unless we have given notice of our intent to marry. You have to give notice at least 2 weeks before you plan to get married, so 9 months ahead of time did seem a bit early to us, but we wanted to get our registrar confirmed so we were happy to go and get it out of the way.
